Not to say that the SKS rifle isn’t a reliable option, but it hasn’t earned the same... Sks is a solid rifle but there isnt anything it does better than an ar15. And given that the prices are pretty close now (350 for the worst chinese sks, mid-high 400s for a polymer ar15) i dont see much of a reason to get an sks over an ar unless you dont live in a free state. The SKS is accurate enough for 100 yards medium big game hunting. The SKS holds more rounds than the .30-30 lever action, is cheaper to feed, is faster to reload, faster for follow up shots, easier to field strip & clean. Again, IMHO the SKS is the modern .30-30 lever action, I can’t think of a better comparison OR compliment..
